Beyond The Broadcast: A Networking Social with Austin’s Public Media

Thursday, October 2, 2025 (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

In today's fast-paced world, authentic local storytelling and trusted journalism are more essential than ever. As the platforms connecting us evolve, the role of community-supported public media in Central Texas has never been more vital. Understanding this ecosystem is key for young professionals looking to make an impact and build meaningful connections. How does it all work, who are the people telling our communities' stories, and what is your place in this landscape?

Join the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Austin Asian Professional Network for Beyond The Broadcast, a networking social presented in partnership with Austin PBS and KUT News / KUTX 98.9. This is your unique opportunity to step behind the scenes at the Austin Media Center, connect directly with the influential professionals who power our public media, and gain a deeper understanding of the powerful engine that drives a more informed, engaged, and culturally rich community.

Whether you're a media enthusiast or simply a young professional curious about the forces shaping our city, this evening is for you.

You can expect to:

  • Connect and network with leaders from Austin's top public media organizations and members of the Austin Asian Professional Network.
  • Gain insider insights from a panel of journalists and media professionals on their careers and the future of the industry.
  • Learn about the impact of public media and its essential role in serving the diverse communities of Central Texas.
  • Discover how to get involved through volunteering, contributing, and championing the mission of local, independent media.
  • Enjoy an exclusive tour of the beautiful Austin PBS studios - see where the magic happens!

Know Before You Go

Getting There: Austin PBS and the Austin Media Center are located at 6101 Highland Campus Dr., Building 3000, Austin, TX 78752 on the Austin Community College Highland campus. You can find the station on the corner of Clayton Lane and Wilhelmina Delco Drive. Look for the Austin PBS name on the building, #3000.

We recommend you do not navigate to the street address because it directs you to the back of the building. When using Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze, simply enter "Austin PBS" and you will be navigated to the public entrance. If using rideshare, navigate to 906 Clayton Lane.

Parking: Street parking is available around the building and in the surface lot across the street. Covered parking is available in the Austin Community College Highland South Parking Garage (Entry #5 from Clayton Lane). Parking is free and open to the public.
